Burger King’s Fernando Machado to be the Headline Speaker at the VIBE Marketers Fest 2018

Fernando Machado ranked ninth in Business Insider’s 25 Most Innovative CMOs of 2018, will be the headline speaker at Vibe Marketers Fest 2018 (VMF18).

Being held on November 21-22 in Dubai, this first-of-its-kind marketing festival is organised by Vibe Projects, an avant-garde media company based in the Middle East. The two-day conference will bring together the who’s who of the marketing, branding and communication industries to deliberate on trending topics including marketing technology, digital transformation, influencer marketing, video marketing, mobile, voice and omni-channel marketing.

“We are excited to have Machado join us for VMF18 this year. With more than 100 Lions in Cannes, 12 D & AD Yellow Pencils, 1 Grandy (McWhopper), and 2 Grand Effies in North America to his credit, we eagerly look forward to hearing him talk about innovation in marketing”, said Sanjay Swamy, the Director – Partnerships at Vibe Projects.

Speaking about the need for an initiative like the VIBE Marketers Fest in the Middle East region, Fernando said, “Middle East is a region super fertile for creativity. And the Vibe Marketers Fest 2018 is a unique opportunity to experience innovation and storytelling first-hand in the region.”

When asked about the top differentiating factor that brands need to focus on in this highly competitive marketplace, Fernando said, “Innovation is what helps set brands and companies apart. Without innovation, brands and categories tend to converge, to become undifferentiated. The need for innovation goes way beyond just the products and services a company provides. It’s a mindset. Something that must be applied to advertising, design, experience – everything”.

Fernando started off his career in marketing as an intern and moved up ranks working for different brands including Dove where he led the ground-breaking ‘Beauty Sketches’ campaign. At Burger King, Fernando has been responsible for infusing the brand with purpose, modernising its design, and inspiring the organisation around brand development, making Burger King the Client of the Year at D&AD in 2016, Creative Marketer of the Year at Cannes 2017, and Client of the Year at the One Show 2018.

The second speaker list which is expected to be announced shortly will include many domain strategists, innovative thinkers and tech experts.
